Families right across the UK are extremely worried about the coronavirus. People want to see action - to know what to do next - and they want to see that the government's plans are robust and scientifically-led. In the context of this global pandemic, it is right for the government to move forward with measures that will slow down the spread of this virus. As an MP, it is on me to help make clear to the public how best to prepare personally, plan for businesses, and protect those who are most vulnerable.
I appreciate how difficult the COVID-19 pandemic is going to be for us in the Far North. On these pages, you will find links to the most up to date information I have received from Holyrood and Westminster; what I and my Liberal Democrat colleagues are doing to protect communities and local businesses; and information about what I am doing specifically as the MP for Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross.
There are now significant lockdown measures in place. Read them here
My constituency office in Tain will be closed to the public for the foreseeable future but we are by no means stopping work. As usual, I will be available on email throughout the week. We are currently working to see how we might operate phone lines from home.
I will be hosting telephone surgeries each Friday - check out my Facebook for details!
The situation is fast changing. I will do my best to update everyone with all the relevant information as best I can.

Taking sensible precautions while helping others
Please take all appropriate medical advice seriously before calling on anyone and look to emulate best practice, such as from online supermarket delivery services.
- Hygiene – washing our hands more regularly soap and water for 20 seconds. You may want to take hand sanitiser (at least 60% alcohol content) out with you.
- Social distancing – including not shaking hands with residents or colleagues, keeping 2m apart, leaving things on doorsteps
All across the UK communities and individuals are developing new ideas and new resources for how we can care for our neighbours at this difficult time. If you’ve developed a community resource and would like it shared on this site, email us at email@example.com
