Stone: Geography and distance should not prevent access to health services
Responding to news that the Highlands continues to face problems with recruitment and retention of NHS staff, Jamie Stone said:
“I've always said that geography and distance are the real challenge for delivering health services in the Far North. One crucial rule will always apply - which is that no one should lack access to health services simply because of where they live.
“It is also necessary to ensure that EU citizens are able to continue to live and work here. Many of them fill vital roles in the health service in the most rural areas of the UK. The Government must make sure that EU citizens are made to feel welcome in the UK.”
