SNP continue to fail Highlands when it comes to healthcare
Jamie Stone has today called the First Minister’s 12-week Treatment Time Guarantee “completely worthless”, after it was missed by the largest ever margin on record.
New Figures from ISD Scotland reveal the legally binding Treatment Time Guarantee was met for just 72% of patients in the last quarter of 2018.
In NHS Highland this fell to only 54.7% of patients.
Performance has fallen despite the Scottish Government publishing its improvement plan on 23 October 2018.
Commenting, Jamie said:
“This shows how shallow the SNP Government’s promises are on the NHS. Nicola Sturgeon put this treatment guarantee into law, but her own government is now failing to keep it.
“It is another example of people in my constituency being disadvantaged on the basis of geography as the SNP fails to deliver when it comes to healthcare.
“This is not the fault of the hard working NHS staff in the Far North. They work tirelessly to keep our health care services going despite crippling cuts and under-resourcing. I have nothing but respect for the staff who actually deliver for Highland patients.
“The SNP are failing people in my constituency and must make changes to ensure no one loses out on access to health care services because of where they live.”
